Emilio Olías Ruiz is Professor on Electronic Technology (since 1996) in the Department of Electronic Technology at the Carlos III University of Madrid. He obtained is PhD in Industrial Engineering (1983) from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where he graduated in Industrial Engineering (1981). He has been Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Assistant Professor at the Spanish National Distance Education University (UNED).

His works have been published in leading international magazines in the field of renewable energy, such as Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics or Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.

He is currently Professor and Researcher of the Electronic Power Systems Group (GSEP) of the Carlos III University of Madrid and previously he was Dean of the School of Engineering (2004-2012), Deputy Dean of Industrial Engineering and First Deputy Dean of the School of Engineering  (2000-2004).He was also Head of the Department of Electronic Technology (1999-2000).

Emilio Olías Ruiz es Catedrático de Tecnología Electrónica (desde 1996) del Departamento de Tecnología Electrónica de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Es doctor en Ingeniería Industrial (1983) por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, dónde se tituló en Ingeniería Industrial (1981). Ha sido profesor titular en la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid y profesor ayudante en la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia.

Sus trabajos han sido publicados en revistas internacionales de referencia en el campo de las energías renovables, como Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics o Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.

En la actualidad es profesor e investigador del Grupo de Sistemas Electrónicos de Potencia (GSEP) de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid y anteriormente fue Director de la Escuela Politécnica Superior (2004-2012), subdirector de Ingeniería Industrial y subdirector primero de la Escuela Politécnica Superior (2000-2004) y director del Departamento de Tecnología Electrónica (1999-2000).
